Exams are coming (boring lectures)

i am actually typing this outside the lecture theatre in which a class is being held. It was boredom to the extreme. The class consists of students presenting some research topics on financial instruments assigned previously by the prof. But most of them don't do a good job at presenting. I must say that though a lot of work has been put into the material, the delivery does less than justice for them.

Which brings the point that the professor said.... knowledge is secondary... the important thing is how you carry yourself. I know. And I know that many people get on with life with such empty pretenses. But although that is how the world works, I beg to differ with the prof. i still feel that hard work and down to earthiness is important. The world is a bubble and all around is fluff anyway. So, when the music stops, what is left is the core knowledge or skill that one has. No point talking about marketing and presentation skills when one does not have anyone to market to. Or rather, taken to the extreme, sales and marketing can only take place when there is something to sell or there is someone to sell to.

Too often, we take for granted the things that come to us 'naturally' e.g. rice, water, air, other necessities... these are considered essential for life. But we don't care a hoot because we assume they will always be there... (at the back of our minds, we think this way). But one day, when the shaking comes, we will soon realise that what is ignored by many will be that which is most precious.

Anyway, enough of this philosophical jargon. What i wanted to say is that Man looks on the outside but God looks at the inside. What is more important is of course the inside. The heart, the skills we have... but so long as we are living in this world, we need to strike a balance. We also need to market ourselves... so taht we do not become irrelevant to the world in need of the gospel. So... strike a balance. but get the priorities right....

now... i think my break is up. priority is to go back to class and listen to the presenters drone on...

ciao for now.
